Guy Martin signs for Wilson Craig’s Honda team

Guy Martin has agreed terms to race for Honda on the roads next year for Irish businessman, Wilson Craig.

The deal allows Martin to virtually run his own team – something he’s always argued works best for him.

Martin told MCN: “I’ll be more of my own boss and that’s how I like it. Wilson puts his money where his mouth is and if he says he’s going to do something – it gets done.

“I’m passionate about racing but not half as much as he is. He works closely with (engine tuner) Chris Mehew and I have massive respect for him too – just look at his results.”

Martin will run a superbike, with the engine built by Mehew, but to Martin’s requirements and a supersport bike built to the same spec as the Parkalgar Honda raced by Eugene Laverty in World Supersport.

Martin said: “We’ll do the big three Internationals, Scarborough, Southern 100, three, maybe four Irish nationals as well as the TT,” said Martin.
