Isle of Man TT and television star Guy Martini has confirmed his entry for the inagural Classic TT next August, alongside up and coming TT rider Dan Cooper.

The two will take the line as teammates in the 500cc Classic race on Team Molnar Manx 500cc Manx Nortons, as the local team make a return after a ten year absense from the Mountain circuit.

The Classic TT, which runs for the first time in 2013, is a reorganisation of the old Manx Grand Prix format that sees classic races running under the new name, alongside the modern machines.

Andy Molnar of Team Molnar Manx said:

“We have been encouraged by the Classic TT plans and after many years absence are pleased to be returning to compete on the Isle of Man with our latest generation Molnar Manx.

We are delighted to have secured the services of Guy Martin who is one of the fastest riders ever around the TT Mountain Circuit. He has all the attributes to make best use of our machinery and together we are aiming to be challenging for victory. Daniel Cooper has shown great potential around the Mountain Course already and coming from a successful 125cc background, we feel he has the riding style required to get the best from our machinery.”

Isle of Man Government TT and Motorsport Development Manager Paul Phillips added:

“The commitment from one of the sports most high profile and talented riders in Guy Martin, one of the TT’s brightest prospects in Daniel Cooper along with one of the classic racing world’s most established brands in Team Molnar Manx is a tremendous endorsement for the Classic TT.

I am sure this will be a successful partnership and will provide a great spectacle for the fans.

Interest in the Classic TT to date has been remarkable from riders, teams and machine owners at all levels and we are working towards making several more announcements about the progress to date at the Motorcycle Live in Birmingham in November.”
