Road racing stars top Cookstown 100 entry list

The stars of road racing will lead the entry list next weekend at the Cookstown 100, with Michael and William Dunlop joined by Guy Martin and Dean Harrison at the Northern Irish race.

With the Tyco BMW duo of Martin and Dunlop leading the charge, team boss Phillip Neill says that it’s nice to be able to return home for the local team.

“We are always very aware of our local supporters and how little they get to see us race at home these days, due to our British championship commitments. Taking that into consideration and with Cookstown being right on our doorstep, it’s always a pleasure to turn out at the event, which is well organised and has a great atmosphere, being the opening Irish national event of the season.”

However, they may face opposition from some even more close opposition, with local rider Jamie Hamilton, on the BE Racing Suzukis, believing that he’s the man to beat.

“There’s a lot of talk about who is coming to the event this year but I really do believe, on John Burrows’ bikes, I’m the man to beat. John has the bikes pretty well set up, so we hadn’t too much to change during testing, which meant I was on the pace straight away. Everyone wants to win at Cookstown, but I feel confident that I can try for a win, or maybe even two.”
