Anstey takes win in red flagged superbike race

Bruce Anstey has taken a victory in the opening superbike race of the day at the 2015 Ulster Grand Prix, taking the win after red flags brought the battle to a premature end on the penultimate lap.

Anstey and Ian Hutchinson were the early leaders, escaping clear of the pack and trading places – with Hutchy leading across the line at the end of lap five, only for the ‘countback’ rule to deny him the win.

Double winner Lee Johnston took the final spot on the podium, ahead of an impressive result in fourth – and one of the fastest laps of the race – despite being on superstock machinery. Conor Cummins, William and Michael Dunlop, and Dean Harrison rounded out the top ten.

Hutchinson was left furious after the race, denied the win with the countback rule coming into play with only one rider failing to complete the fifth lap – despite arguing that two thirds distance needed to be completed before the race could be declared a result.
