Birchalls dominate opening sidecar race

After a delay to the start of the sidecar race the masses of crowds lining the Mountain Course saw the Birchall brothers, Ben and Tom, claim the spoils by over 24s from the team of John Holden and Dan Sayle with Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott joining them on the rostrum.

The Birchall’s led throughout and were able to comfortably add to their lead over the course of the three lap distance with no-one capable of getting close to their speed or consistency. The winning time was confirmed as a sidecar race record and the margin of their second TT victory will mean that they’ll be firm favourites to add to their tally during the second sidecar race of the week.

Dave Molyneux will surely have something to say about that having seen his quest for a 18th TT win ended with a retirement at Brandish.
