French rider Franck Petricola has lost his life in a crash during tonight’s qualifying session for the Isle of Man TT. The thirty-two year old lost his life following an incident at Sulby Crossroads during the opening timed session of the TT fortnight.

Franck was a newcomer to the TT. Originally scheduled to make his debut on the Island last year, it was delayed a year following a crash suffered at the North West 200 that left him with horrific injuries.

However, he was able to make an amazing comeback from those injuries, returning to the North West 200 this year before moving on to the TT with the Ice Valley Racing squad of Paul Shoesmith.

The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.

Motorcycle News joins the TT organisers in offering deepest sympathies to Franck’s friends, family, fans and team.
