Hutchinson completes fairytale comeback with TT win

Ian Hutchinson has finally completed his return to the form that saw him become the only ever five-in-a-week TT winner, by standing on the top step of the podium at the Isle of Man TT five years after the Silverstone crash that almost cost him his leg.

Riding the Team Control Traction Control Yamaha that he only switched to after the Tsingtao MV Agusta he was originally scheduled to ride fell through at the eleventh hour, he took the lead from the Mar-Train Yamaha of last year’s winner Gary Johnson on the Mountain on the opening lap and held it to the line.

In fact, it was not Johnson but Bruce Anstey that looked like the only man capable of stopping him, coming back strong in the closing stages to take second place.

Lee Johnston was an impressive fourth place, ahead of Guy Martin, relegated back by thirty seconds through a pit lane speeding penalty. James hillier rounded out the top six, ahead of the Jackson Racing Honda duo of John McGuinness and Conor Cummins.
