1 of 1

Ryan Farquhar remains seriously ill in hospital following an incident in yesterday’s North West 200 Supertwin race.

The 40-year-old was airlifted to hospital with chest and pelvic injuries after the crash on the third lap of the restarted lightweight race where he remains in intensive care following surgery.

The other rider involved in the incident, Dan Cooper, was taken to Causeway hospital in Coleraine with shoulder injuries but has since been discharged and is back in the paddock.

Newcomer Nico Mawhinney, who was flown to the Royal Victoria hospital following a crash in superbike practice, is reported to be in a stable condition.

With the supertwins incident seeing an end to the day’s racing, the Superstock race will now take place on Saturday morning.
