Roads: Dunlop continues Southern 100 winning streak

Michael Dunlop continued his winning streak as he looks to defend his Southern 100 championship title with another hard fought victory against local man Dan Kneen.

The duo were separated by just 0.2sec at the end of the seven lap Senior race, with Dunlop clocking both a new lap and race record as he took the Bennetts Suzuki to its second victory of the week on the Billown course.

Jamie Coward completed the podium ahead of James Cowton and Ivan Lintin while Rob Hodson rounded out the top six ahead of newcomer Sam West.

Dean Harrison was victorious in the Radcliffe’s 600cc Supersport outing, beating James Cowton to the top spot by almost a second with Superbike king Michael Dunlop bringing his MD Racing Yamaha home third.

Ivan Lintin was once again top of the pile in the Lightweight 250/650cc category, beating McAdoo Racing’s James Cowton and Rob Hodson in the six lap race while the Birchall brothers continued their 2017 Manx dominance with victory in the Sidecar outing ahead of John Holden and Lee Cain with Wayne Lockey and Mark Sayers third.
