Supermoto champ on Supersport pace

World Supermoto champ Thierry van den Bosch shocked his new rivals in World Supersports by matching lap record pace in his first test of Yamaha’s latest R6.

He lapped Spain’s Almeria circuit as fast as former world champion Jorg Teuchert.

The Belgian, who will ride for the factory Yamaha France team, said: ” It is still very early, but I am enjoying riding the bike already. ” No official times were released.

Jamie Whitham was also testing at the circuit, but appalling weather meant he could only complete a couple of laps. He was there with ex-MotoGP rider Jurgen van den Goorbergh, who has been drafted in to replace Paolo Casoli. Casoli sustained serious head injuries after a crash in testing last month, and is likely to miss that start of the season in March.
