Goorbergh tests Suzuki

Jurgen van den Goorbergh has tested the Riza Suzuki GSX-R100 he will use at the Assen round of the World Superbike championship at a private test at the Silverstone circuit on Tuesday, August 23, 2005.

The 35-year-old Dutch rider will make his superbike debut on the same bikes used by British Superbike stars John Reynolds and James Haydon. He had just 90 minutes of track time to prepare, with a few minor adjustments to suit his riding position.

Several Pirelli control tyres were tested, and the GSX-R1000 was set-up to simulate a race distance. Using the GP circuit, van den Goorbergh was just two seconds off the lap record and in a positive mood.

The race takes place at noon on Sunday, September 4, 2005.
