Yukio on provisional pole

1 of 1

Yukio Kagayama has topped the first day of qualifying for the final round of the World Superbike championship at Magny Cours.

The Japanese Suzuki rider is one of the few riders to have tested at the circuit earlier in the year and used it to his advantage, shattering the lap record set by Neil Hodgson in 2003 before the introduction or Pirelli control tyres.

Second fasets time went to Karl Muggeridge on the Ten Kate Honda followed by Andrew pit on the Yamaha Italia R1 and Lorenzo Lanzi on the factory Ducati 999.

2005 championship winner Troy Corser finished in fifth with Brit Chris Walker in ninth.

James Toseland finished in 17th, but don’t forget you can see him playing live at Butlins at our 50th Anniversay bash. He is flying over straight after Sunday’s race to be there on time.
