Edwards to race Suzuka

Colin Edwards is teaming up with Yamaha WSB rider Noriyuki Haga to take on the Suzuka 8-hour endurance race in Japan.

The pair will ride a factory backed Yamaha R1 on Michelin tyres at the event which takes place on July 30.

Both riders have a history with the endurance race and have even ridden it as part of the same team, taking the win in 1996. Edwards then went on to win twice more, taking the top spot in 2001 with his current team-mate Valentino Rossi and again in 2002 with the late Daijiro Kato.

The news comes after the June 14 edition of MCN revealed that Edwards might be teaming up with Alex Barros to create a Honda superteam in World Superbikes next year.
