Zemke wins Daytona 200

Jake Zemke took the win in the Daytona 200 race at Daytona, Florida, after a drama filled 68 laps.

The Hondas of Zemke and five-time winner Miguel Duhamel took control of the race on lap 14 and Duhamel looked as though he would take a clear win, developing a 12 second advantage.

But luck was not on the side of the Canadian rider, at the first turn of lap 44 he high sided his CBR600RR. He managed to hold on to it only to get thrown off again. Despite serious damage to the fairing and his helmet he got back on and continued to ride, but the damage was too much to be competitive.

Zemke took the lead and held out too the line despite a mixup with the pit board that told him he was 25 seconds ahead when actually he was only marginally in front of second placed man Josh Hayes. Final podium spot went to Yamaha rider Jason DiSalvo.
