Troy Bayliss has taken the double race win in at Monza, his second in a row and his sixth Monza win.

Race 1: Bayliss took his fifth Monza World Superbike win after dominating the majority of the 18-lap race.

Barros, Corser and Haga continuously changed places with no one rider able to pull away until a slide from Haga at the Parabolica on the penultimate lap let Barros get a small gap preventing any last lap overtakes and guaranteeing him second place and Corser third.

James Toseland was putting in some storming laps, catching the three riders in the final laps but he ran wide on the last corner of the track. He managed to save it but it affected his brakes and he ran wide again at the other end of the start/finish straight, lost the front on the grass and landing heavily on his neck. He walked back to the pits looking very frustrated.

Fellow Brit Chris Walker finished in 11th after loosing out to Lorenzo Lanzi and Shinichi Nakatomi in the closing laps.

A massive crash on the way in to the first corner of the race took out Abe, Ianuzzzo, Nanelli, Neukirchner, Xaus, Fabrizio and Nanelli.

Race 2: Bayliss ended up in fourth place after the first corner but soon managed to work his way past James Toseland, Noriyuki Haga and Troy Corser to take the lead.

Corser tried to fight back but could not hold the lead for long against the Ducati rider.

Bayliss even let Corser through in to the lead in the middle of the race but then took it back again half a lap later.

Corser managed to stick with Bayliss to the end but never close enough to challenge him for the lead. Noriyuki Haga dropped off the back of the two Troys but still managed to keep third.

James Toseland was just holding off Barros for fourth place but on the last lap he started to run out of fuel and Barros Managed to slip past. Toseland got across the line but had to jump on the back of team-mate Karl Muggeridge’s bike to get back to the pits.
