Pitt weighs BSB offer

1 of 1

Andrew Pitt has an offer on the table from Paul Bird to race in BSB next year – but the Aussie WSB star is also waiting to see if he has landed a ride with the new Ilmor MotoGP team.
The Aussie visited Bird’s workshop last week before testing the new Ilmor X3 in Valencia, but he’s stalling on giving Bird an answer while he waits for Eskil Suter to make a final decision on the Ilmor rider line-up for next season.

Former factory Yamaha WSB man Pitt, dropped in favour of Troy Corser alongside Noriyuki Haga for ’07, completed 67 laps on the British-built V4 machine, clocking a best time of 1.35.40, 0.4s inside Garry McCoy’s best race lap time on the bike.
Pitt said: “I’m hoping they can give me some sort of an idea because I don’t want to make people wait any longer. One of the things I’m holding up is with Paul Bird. I went over last week to have a look at his workshop and the bikes are great and they’ve got a great package there. But I don’t know if I’m ready to jump into the British championship yet.”
