Sofuoglu ups Supersport pace

Championship leader Keenan Sofuoglu dipped 2/10th under the official lap record to secure pole position for tomorrow’s Supersport race. The Turkish rider had to pull out all the stops to beat his resurgent team-mate Sebastian Charpentier. Charpentier set the early pace and was the first man to go under the lap record, but despite coming close to bettering his own benchmark lap time lost out in the final two splits.

Yamaha man Broc Parkes prevented a Ten Kate Honda white wash by securing third place with Frenchman Fabien Foret rounding out the front row. Kawasaki have clearly got Foret’s ZX6-R working well and he was able to stay in front of Massimo Roccoli and Superbike refugees Steve Martin and Andrew Pitt.

Craig Jones slashed almost a full second off his lap time, but despite the improvement slipped one position down to 16th and will stay on the fourth row of the grid for tomorrows 21 lap race.
