Fogarty still chasing money

Carl Fogarty has admitted he is still months away from making an official announcement on his 2008 MV Agusta team as he still doesn’t have the sponsorship to fund the high profile project.

At the beginning of May, MCN exclusively revealed four-time world champion Fogarty had done a deal with legendary Italian manufacturer MV Agusta to run their factory team in WSB in 2008.

Foggy now has the manufacturer support he desperately wanted but still needs to secure the budget.

A team spokesman said: “Since the feature in MCN it’s been very encouraging. We’ve got a very strong network of people out there talking to companies about sponsorship and we’ve even had people approach us direct which shows the level of interest.

“Carl is in the Isle of Man this week for the TT where he’ll be doing laps on the MV, and then we head to Misano for WSB and then Goodwood. All of these events should generate interest in the project.”

Although the team have no plans to begin testing until they have the full budget and sponsor in place, it’s believed that MV Agusta are currently working on a full WSB spec bike and intend to get it out on track as soon as possible.
