WSB organisers FGSport have announced they have sold a considerable share of the WSB championship to the Swiss Sports and Media promoters – Infront.

Infront are owned by the godson and nephew of FIFA president Sepp Blatter and specialise in sports and media promotion.

Infront are big players in the sports market with events in their portfolio ranging from the World Cup, Chinese Basketball and the America’s Cup.

Although the announcement was made yesterday it is still unclear whether FGSport remain the majority shareholder or that WSB is now predominantly owned by Infront.

At the opening round of the season in Qatar there were rumours FGSport had instructed financial giant Merrill Lynch to auction of WSB.

Although WSB boss Paolo Flammini denied his series was up for auction at that time he admitted that he is always looking for new investment into the series and less than three months later it appears that he has achieved his goal.

He said: “FGSport’s agreement with Infront is very positive and comes at the right moment for the World Superbikes.

“I am sure that the synergy that we will generate between FGSPORT and Infront will be of great benefit for our series.”
