After securing one of the UK’s brightest prospects on a three year deal Hannspree Honda team boss Ronald Ten Kate has spoken about the deal which sees Jonathan Rea move to his team next year.

Ronald Ten Kate explained to MCN: “He’s a very young guy but he’s got a lot of experience. He will have one year in WSS with the team to learn the way we work and about life in the world championship before moving up with us in WSB.

“We’ve been able to do the deal with a good understanding with the HM Plant Honda team in the UK and I’d like to thank them for producing such a young talented rider.

“Although Jonathan has been on Superbike for the last three years I see no problem for a rider with this talent switching to Supersport.

“It might take a few tests for him to get up to speed but by the start of the season I think he will be up there fighting – this is how highly I rate him.

“At Ten Kate we like riders who are professional and confident. He is very young, very ambitions and very mature and there are not many young guys like this that would be capable of sitting down to discuss their future the way he has – he certainly knows exactly where he wants to be.

“I believe he will be a major asset for the team for the next three years and hopefully we can work together even longer.”
