Troy Bayliss confident for Misano Race

Following his three day test at Mugello last week, World Superbike series leader Troy Bayliss heads to this weekend’s Misano race in confident mood after finding some improvements on his Xerox Ducati 1098 F08.

At the previous round in Germany, Bayliss secured second and fourth position to extend his championship lead, but missed out on the opportunity to take the race wins, due to a lack of feel from the rear of the bike.

Bayliss spent the three day test evaluating different set-up options and believes that he will be very competitive this weekend in Misano.

Speaking to MCN, he said: “We didn’t have anything special to test, but it was good because we haven’t tested much this year and it always gives you the opportunity to try things that you don’t normally get the chance to on a race weekend.

“We’ve been able to really find the parameters of this bike, but to be honest we weren’t far away from a good setting. We found a couple of things, but nothing major.”

In the last two years Bayliss has won three out of the last four races at Misano and will be going all out to maintain his near impeccable record at the San Marino circuit.

Bayliss said: “I’m not really expecting too many problems with the bike at Misano. I should be on the pace within the first 15 minutes of free practice on Friday. The racing is going to be all action and a bit hectic.

“The championship is closing up and Nori (Haga) is having his usual year where he’s started slow, but now he’s up to speed. It’s kind of what I expected.”
