Haslam satisfied with Phillip Island WSB test

Leon Haslam believes he is ready to race after completing a two day test at Phillip Island.

The Stiggy Honda rider has continued to work on machine set-up ended the test happy with his result after slashing a full second off his day one best lap time.

He said:

“It’s been good, we’ve worked a lot on set-up and been able to eliminate a lot of things. Phillip Island is different to where we’ve tested before so we’ve had other things to deal with to get a good base.”

Track temperature at the Australian circuit soared to over 50 degrees in each afternoon of the test, causing riders and teams tyre life and grip problems.

He said: “The weather here is key and if you want to post a fast lap you’ve got to do it within the first two hours of the day before the track gets too hot.

“After lunch you basically lose a second but we’ve been using the time to try and get a set-up that is going to work at the end of the race.

“I didn’t get many of the tyre we’re likely to use in the race so we had to make them last.”

Haslam is staying within 2km from the Phillip Island circuit so intends to head to the circuit this weekend where Ducati, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and BMW will test.

The next time the 25 year old gets on track will be for first Free Practice on Friday 27th February.
