Guintoli: Everything has to be right

Alstare Suzuki rider Sylvan Guintoli is clearly enjoying life in WSB. Three rounds into his rookie season the 27 year old Frenchman sits joint sixth in the championship standings with a best result of fourth in the fiercely competitive class.

In the Valencia round last week Guintoli qualified 0.458 seconds off pole before securing ninth and sixth in the two races. He spent race two battling with Brits Shane Byrne, Jonathan Rea, James Toseland and pole man Cal Crutchlow.

Speaking to MCN he said:

“I was in a Brit sandwich and it was good fun. I had a good fight with Cal and was catching James plus there was Shakey and Johnny in there too.

“The lap times and the racing in this class are so close and you have to get everything right all weekend if you want a good result. To have a good weekend in WSB you have to make a good start in Free practice, improve in Qualifying, do really well in Superpole, make two great starts, race hard and also be able to manage the bike when the tyres go off.

“It’s not easy but I’m enjoying it.”
