No decision on Haslam’s Suzuki or BMW future

Leon Haslam’s WSB future continues to be the topic of intense speculation at Imola. Haslam currently remains under contract with the Alstare Suzuki squad but has been linked to a switch to ride alongside Troy Corser in the factory BMW team.

His ability to switch manufacturers depends on the level of technical support his current Alstare Suzuki team will receive from Suzuki Japan and despite a meeting happening last week between Alstare boss Francis Batta and Suzuki there is still not official confirmation.

MCN understands that while BMW are focussed on signing the 27 year old they will not wait indefinitely with one rumoured deadline for a decision being 6pm on Saturday evening.

Speaking to MCN, Haslam said: “I’m still waiting to speak to Francis. We were due to meet last night but it didn’t happen so I’m hoping we can sit down and speak after qualifying this afternoon. There’s no real pressure from the other teams right now, but I believe that they do want to get things sorted this weekend.”
