Aragon WSS: Sofuoglu wins, Cluzel retires

1 of 1

Three-time World Supersport champion Kenan Sofuoglu cruised to victory at Aragon after Jules Cluzel was forced to retire from the lead due to a mechanical problem with just six laps remaining.

The pair enjoyed a close battle with New Yorker PJ Jacobsen, but once Cluzel pulled out of the race Sofuoglu was able to open up a lead to win comfortably.

Pata Honda rider Kyle Smith scored his first WSS podium in third place ahead of fellow Brit Gino Rea, who just held off MV Agusta rider Lorenzo Zanetti to finish fourth.

Previous race winner and championship leader going into this race, Ratthapark Willairot, was running well in fifth place before he was involved in a multiple-rider incident on lap six, which also involved Lucas Mahias and Marco Faccani.
