Davies doubles up at Laguna

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) overcame the worrying drops of rain on his visor in the first few laps to once again run away with the race win at Laguna Seca, making it a double for the day.

Behind, another battle for second between Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) went the way of Sykes for the second time in a few hours.

Although Davies’ team-mate Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) crashed out early, it was a day for internal scrapping as Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) and Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) had their own duel, with Torres eventually fourth and Haslam fifth.

Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia SBK Team) was a lonely and distant sixth, after some early dramas had claimed Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda WSB) through a crash and Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) who eventually retired in the pits.

Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda WSB) eventually placed seventh, privateer rider Niccolo Canepa (Althea Racing Ducati) eighth and another Panigale rider Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Team Ducati) was ninth.

For the second time in a day Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) finished tenth.

In the points Rea has now broken the 400 barrier with 407, Sykes is second on 282 and Davies is now third on 263, overtaking Haslam who is now fourth on 240.
