Haslam tips Lowes for further podium success

Leon Haslam has tipped close friend – and even closer WSB rival – Alex Lowes for more podium success in 2015, after the Voltcom Suzuki rider made his first visit to the podium last time out at Thailand.

“That was my first ever podium with Alex, and I know how hard we both work in the gym – I’ve been mates with them since they were ten years old, and it’s great to see both of them mature into super fast guys. They’re doing the business!”

However, the friendship ends in pit lane, with Lowes pulling a hard move on his Derbyshire neighbour in the second race en route to the podium – but the hard overtake hasn’t affected their relationship off the track.

“It’s always hard because we’re friends, but for me I have to make sure it isn’t! I’d stuff up my dad if it meant I could get a better place! It’s all part of racing, and I think that getting his first podium of the season will do him good in that it might make him a little bit calmer.

“He’s got the speed, the Suzuki is super quick this season, and now he has the confidence that he can do it, I think he’ll smooth out and be there every weekend.”
