What the Triumph Street Triple R should have been?

MCN reader Tony Hartfield used to own a Triumph Street Triple R, but he found it a bit lacking in certain areas. So he decided to build his own version, based on a new 2009 Triumph Daytona 675.

The result is a Street Triple R with a kick because it’s powered by a full-on 126bhp Daytona 675 motor – that’s about 20 more than the detuned Street Triple.

Tony had the 675 donor bike’s top yoke machined to take Speed Triple handlebars and fitted Street Triple clocks and lights. The list of extra parts fitted reads like a list of top tuning brands – Giles rear sets, Pazzo levers and Galfer wavey discs front and rear.    

Tony admits that the project has been expensive, but he’s very happy with the result: “I reckon what I have is what the Triple R should have been.”
