Suzuki, like other Japanese manufacturers, began building motorcycles as affordable, reliable post-war transport – a mainstay of the company that continued with bikes like the accessible and motorcycle insurance premium friendly DL650 V-Strom.

When it comes to picking your next bike, don't forget to include motorcycle insurance in the things to look at before you spend your cash.

We've picked out a handful of Suzukis which would make a good choice when it comes to performance and insurance costs. And they include everything from adventure bikes to low cost commuters.

Suzuki DL650 V-Strom Xpedition, insurance group 10

The V-Strom Xpedition is the same as the standard V-Strom 650, but kitted out with £1250 worth of extras.

There is absolutely nothing bad to say about the bike. An often overlooked bike, the little V-Strom is one of the best bikes for commuting and long distance work. It's frugal, handles well and is surprisingly fun.

Suzuki Gladius, insurance group 10

The Suzuki Gladius carries on the traits of the old SV650, which means it’s still easy to ride for new riders as an entry level bike, with the additional benefit of ts Group 10 rating, but still fun enough for more experienced riders.

There’re no shocks or surprises, it’s very forgiving. Even with the pegs scraping it’s still compliant. Prices start at just over three grand. Bargain.

Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit, insurance group 13

There's a reason you see so many Bandits on the road - they're excellent bikes.

They're comfy, stable, handle well and produce more than enough power to make overtakes easy. If you ride exclusively on the road and don't fancy a big adventure-style bike then the Bandit 1250 would be an excellent choice.

Suzuki GSX650F, insurance group 12

Suzuki’s budget and novice-friendly GSXF650F all-rounder proves that sometimes, brilliance is found in the most unlikely places.

Although on face value merely a ‘Bandit with a fairing’ the GSX650F’s blend of real world performance, practicality, fun factor and value is pretty much unmatched anywhere.

Suzuki RV125 VanVan, insurance group 5

The Suzuki RV125 VanVan is an enigmatic motorcycle, that’s for sure. Farm hands, gamekeepers, race teams and surf dudes would be the ideal customers: it’s perfect for whizzing around country estates, race paddocks and beaches.

Very low and very comfy, the Suzuki RV125 VanVan’s a stable, smooth ride with good, if very basic, suspension and brakes. It’s light and easy to ride with a tiny turning circle, aided by wide bars. Perfect for novices.
