Taking care of tyres after a trackday

1 of 1

Tyre manufacturers have developed specific tyres for specific purposes, so doing a trackday on tyres designed as as a sports touring tyre will hammer them on the track. However, they won’t have blistered.

That only happens when a tyre delaminates, and the horrendous vibration you’d experience would make you park the bike straightaway.

The edges of the tread on both tyres may have lots of little rubber blobs all around them, that’s most likely to be ‘blueing’ that’s caused by the oils in the tyre coming to the surface.

As long as you treat the tyres like they are new for the next 50 miles, leaning gently into corners and scrubbing them in gradually they will continue to give good service on the road.
