Dartford crossing free from April 1

From today, April 1, motorcyclists can now use the Dartford river crossing on the M25 free of charge.

The bridge and tunnel at Junction 31 have ditched their 40p tolls as it was just too much hassle waiting for gloved hands to fumble through pockets for change. Bikes join local buses in being exempt from the charge. All other vehicles keep their previous prices, but there is a new flat rate of £1 for all other vehicles between 10pm and 6am.
