Duke release Joey Dunlop tribute DVD

The popular Ulsterman and the iconic TT Mountain Circuit will be forever linked, and now Duke has brought together all available surviving footage of Joey’s TT glories in one action packed programme.

Joey Dunlop – The TT Wins is the most comprehensive collection of archive race footage celebrating his TT victories ever gathered together, featuring a staggering 24 of his record-breaking 26 wins.

The footage was compiled following an exhaustive search of Duke’s own archives and the archives of many other producers.

Duke also launched a worldwide appeal for surviving footage. Duke has been unable to trace any race film from his first win – the 1977 Jubilee TT – and the 1984 Formula One, but the incredible footage tracked down charts a TT record which is unlikely ever to be bettered.

It shows Joey as a young charger, challenging and beating stars like Mick Grant and Roger Marshall.

You can also relive the ‘big bike’ glory years, when Joey scored six F1 wins in a row, and his domination of the 125cc and 250cc classes in the 1990s.

The exceptional footage, with original commentary, reminds us of how “Yer Maun” overcame injury, horrendous weather, a missing exhaust and even a sunken boat to claim victory after victory, and stunned the racing world in 1995 when, as a 43-year-old, he won the Senior TT on the Honda RC45 – his first big bike win for almost a decade.

Joey Dunlop – The TT Wins lets us share the excitement as Joey sees off young challengers like Carl Fogarty, Steve Hislop, David Jefferies and John McGuinness, remaining as determined as ever to add to his record-breaking tally of wins.

In 2000, at the age of 48, he defied all the odds to take three TT wins in a week for the third time – the first man to achieve this incredible feat – and his seventh F1 victory after what many believe to be his greatest ever ride.

Tragically this was to be his final TT, but it was a fitting end to Joey’s amazing relationship with the awe-inspiring Mountain Course.
