Supermoto action rolls into Wales

1 of 1

Round three of the MCN-backed ACU British Supermoto championship takes place at Llandow, near Cardiff this weekend (April 18), with fierce action in the Open, 450 and KTM Junior classes.

The Llandow circuit should offer some surprises with long, fast straights and a specially-designed off-road section with a supercross-style enormous table-top jump and six wash-board jumps.

In the 450cc class KTM’s Matt Winstanley currently leads the championship, but will be up against Honda’s Lieghton Haigh, Husqvaran’s Christian Iddon and VOR’s Greg Kinsella among his main rivals. And the Open class will be equally exciting with 23 riders on 650cc and 700cc bikes putting out around 85bhp.

The KTM Junior Cup will also see fifteen-year-old local boy Daniel Griffiths keen to add to his two wins from three starts at his home track.

The racing takes place at Llandow circuit, ten miles from Cardiff and signposted from junction 35 of the M4. The action starts at 10am with morning practice, qualifying, superpole, and two finals for each class. Entry for adults is £10, OAPs and students £5, and children under 16 go free.
