Laverty makes good progress in Cadwell test

Michael Laverty says the Tyco BMW team have made good progress with the S1000RR, after a much-need one-day test at Cadwell Park on Wednesday.

Struggling to get enough testing time on the new model all season, both Laverty and teammate Tommy Bridewell were able to pull a clear direction from the track time as they work to build on the pace they’ve already shown.

“It was a good test for us, we experimented with some new parts and tried various different suspension options with K-tech. The goal was to understand how to improve our weak areas and I believe we identified a clear direction to move forward.

“I’m happy that during the test was the most comfortable I have felt on the Tyco BMW, so the development work by the team is definitely paying off.”

With only five races of the regular season now remaining, including an Oulton Park triple-header, Laverty is still in with a chance at a top six spot. He currently sits in fifth in the championship, and with the injured duo of both James Ellison and Stuart Easton ahead of him, it seems likely he should be able to retain the spot.
