BSB: Haslam spotted testing Kawasaki BSB bike at Donington

Leon Haslam has been spotted testing a British Superbike-spec Kawasaki ZX-10R at Donington Park.

The test comes just hours after the team with which Haslam fought for the 2016 MCE British Superbike Championship, GBmoto Racing, confirmed their departure from the British series for 2017.

Riding an all-black liveried ZX-10R not believed to be the GBmoto bike he campaigned this year, Haslam spent time on a drying Donington Park track earlier this afternoon.

The former WSB star has made no secret of his desire to remain with Kawasaki next year with bosses from Kawasaki UK also keen to keep him on board. MCN understands a deal is being worked on that would see this happen, and today’s test would further suggest this is the case.

Speaking to MCN on Sunday, Haslam said: “I really want to stay on a Kawasaki next year as I feel the bike has got so much more potential. This year, even though we’ve suffered a few issues, I’ve won as many races as Shakey and scored even more points than him!

“There’s much more to come from the ZX-10R and I want to be the person that takes it to its potential. I might not have won the championship this year but next year I’m coming out fighting and already have a year back in BSB under my belt.”
