Yamaha test: day two

1 of 1

The Yamaha MotoGP squads finished their second day of testing at the Phillip Island track in Australia, with the weather still hindering their efforts.

For the second day rain hampered progress in the morning, but a higher temperature in the afternoon aided testing. Valentino Rossi posted the fastest lap time, completing 74 laps, with a best of 1:30.65, well within the lap record. Rossi and teammate Colin Edwards focussed on testing Michelin tyres, with the American rider recording 1:31.00 and 71 laps.

“Unfortunately it was raining again and we lost all of the morning,” said Rossi. “We did some good work in the afternoon, but the conditions were not really right for us to do effective testing. We continued to work on the bike settings but it was difficult to judge our progress in these bad conditions. I really hope tomorrow will be better as we still have to fix some settings on the bike.”

Also at the circuit were Fortuna riders Ruben Xaus and Toni Elias. Xaus completed 68 laps with a best time of 1:32.32 while concentrating on his front suspension settings. Elias focussed on wet-weather experience, and posted 1:32.70 and completing 90 laps.
