McWilliams in hospital

Jeremy McWilliams crashed heavily this afternoon at Jerez, and reports from hospital suggest that the veteran star has badly broken his left leg.

McWilliams lost the front of the Ilmor X3 800 at the fast left turn four at Jerez, carthwheeling through the gravel while the bike ityself managed to clear the catch fence such was the severity of the crash.

MCN understands McWilliams is due to undergo surgery tonight to insert a rod into his left femur. The 250 GP winner is also suffering from a badly hurt left hand.
