MotoGP: Colin Edwards relishing historic night race

Colin Edwards is relishing being part of the historic first night MotoGP race in Qatar on Sunday (March 9) as the countdown to the 2008 world championships draws closer.

The Tech 3 Yamaha rider impressed during last week’s two-night dress rehearsal at the Losail International Circuit when he posted the fourth best time.

And Edwards told MCN he was excited to start his sixth season in the premier class.

“I’m excited because I go a lot faster when I can’t see where the hell I’m going.

“My only experience of the lights before last week was the Suzuka Eight-hour, and a bit of motocross at night.

“And when you can’t see the ruts I was always quick. Just being part of it for me is cool and we will see how it goes.

And Colin Edwards added: “If it goes good and everybody has a good time and it’s a good show we might have a few more night races.

“The only big difference between riding at night or in the day is that you spend more work trying to fix the bike and improve the setting at night with the cold temperature.”
