MotoGP supremo Carmelo Ezpeleta has admitted Valentino Rossi’s Ducati deal is a massive boost for the premier class world championship.

Rossi’s transfer to Ducati has already heaped huge attention on the 2011 campaign with Dorna now hoping to cash in on the dream collaboration between the two Italian icons.

Rossi is undoubtedly the main box office attraction in MotoGP and pivotal to global TV audiences and live attendances.

Speaking to MCN recently about Rossi’s move, Ezpeleta said: “First of all it is very good news that Valentino will stay for another two years. Secondly with Ducati it is a new challenge for him and a new challenge for Ducati.

“New challenges always create expectations and big interest. It is really good news for our sport and we must say thanks to Valentino and Ducati.”
