Home pole for Quartararo with Kent 31st

Fabio Quartararo gave the home fans reason to smile in the rain when the Frenchman claimed the pole position of his home Grand Prix career. Quartararo set his fastest time in the early minutes of the session as rain threatened overhead before crashing heavily at the first corner when it started to spit with rain. The crash or the rain however couldn’t dampen the crowds enthusiasm and with Jules Danilo lining up sixth there’s plenty of reason for them to look forward to tomorrow’s race.

Jorge Navarro was second fastest with Francesco Bagnaia completing the third row. The change in conditions caught out plenty of riders with Danny Kent 31st, Efren Vazquez 29th, Brad Binder 25th after a slow speed crash and Enea Bastianini 18th.
