Moto3: Arbolino leads opening day in tricky conditions

1 of 1

Snipers Team Honda rider Tony Arbolino has topped the opening day of Moto3 testing at Qatar’s Losail circuit, ending up 0.101 ahead of teammate Romano Fenati. Riding in tricky conditions among high winds and occasional dust storms that saw track conditions reduced and times well off the pace, the Italian ends the day happy with his pace – but with two more days still to come.

John McPhee was 11th overall but happy with his progress, setting his times alone while working on testing new components on the Petronas SRT Honda instead of chasing to join the pack of riders trying to set fast times.

Fellow Brit Tom Booth Amos was 28th and last but happy with his progress, not risking a crash in the difficult conditions and on his first day at Losail, instead concentrating on getting comfortable on the CIP Moto KTM and on learning his way around the circuit.

Testing continues tomorrow, with better conditions forecast.
