Moto2: Lowes tops day two in Qatar

1 of 1

Sam Lowes has topped the combined times after two days of testing at Qatar’s Losail circuit, ending the day confident and clear of the field despite sitting out the final of three sessions. Lapping 0.055 seconds faster than second-placed Remy Gardner but retaining his consistency, a cold end to the night meant he played it safe by staying in the garage for a crash-strewn session.

Third place went to an impressive performance from rookie (and reigning Moto3 world champion) Jorge Martin, with the Marc VDS duo of Alex Marquez and Xavi Vierge in hot pursuit.

Lowes’ fellow Brit Jake Dixon was 22nd overall, making considerable progress on his lap time from yesterday as he continues to adapt to Moto2 and to learn his way around the Losail circuit ahead of his debut as a full-time Moto2 rider at next weekend’s race. Testing continues for a third and final day tomorrow.
