Ruben Xaus has taken provisional pole after a very wet first qualifying session for World Superbikes at Brands Hatch.

The Fila Ducati rider upped his pace from the mornings practice session knocking a full two seconds off his time to finish the session with a 1:36.441 lap.

Chris Walker continued his strong pace from the mornings practice session bringing the HM Plant Ducati home 0.134 seconds behind Xaus.

Regis Laconi took provisional third place on the grid but the surprise of the session came in the form of Leon Haslam. The British Superbikes wildcard took his Renegade Ducati to the final place on the provisional grid, just over a second behind Xaus but ahead of all of his BSB rivals.

The second row of the provisional grid was all British with Sean Emmett taking the ETI Ducati to fifth followed by John Reynolds, James Toseland and Michael Rutter.

The two championship leaders have yet to show their true colours with BSB leader Shane Byrne in 9th and WSB leader Neil Hodgson in 13th.
