Andy Reid set for first WSS weekend

After an unexpected parting of the ways between regular Core Motorsport Thailand Honda WSS rider Ratthapark Wilairot and his Thai owned team, the CBR600RR that won the Chang International Circuit race in March will be ridden at Donington by BSS regular Andy Reid.

Reid will ride Donington as a one-off, with a long-term replacement yet to be found for Wilairot, who ended the Imola event last time out in fifth place overall, and top Honda rider in the Supersport points.

For Reid, riding such a competitive bike is an opportunity to show his pace at world level, in his first ever WSS race. “I am really looking forward to making my debut appearance in the Supersport World Championship on board a very competitive bike,” said Reid.

“It has been a bit of a shock, if I’m honest, to be asked to ride for this team, but nevertheless I’m going into the event as I would any other – focused, determined and ready for whatever comes my way. My goal for this weekend is to win as it would for any other race, but we will not be fooled into thinking it will be easy! We will work hard with the crew to get a comfortable set up with the bike and then go from there. I think it would be a great achievement to be the top Brit out there. However, it is my first race on the world platform. I am grateful to be given this opportunity so I’ll just be giving it 110%!”
