Twenty six up for Sykes at Donington

Superpole at Donington got underway at noon, thanks to the unusual schedule at this round, with Tom Sykes (KRT) taking his 26th career Superpole win with a new track best of 1’27.071.

Jonathan Rea (KRT) was second fastest, 0.237 seconds behind his team-mate, with the top three completed by Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Ducati WSB).

Early morning free practice was headed by Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Red Devils) but he ended Superpole in fourth place, now starting off the second row of the grid.

Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki took the lead with ten minutes to go, before the five riders in front pushed ahead of him.

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Ducati WSB) sent sixth fastest and in a strong showing for the local riders, Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) slotted in seventh.

Despite being black-flagged near the end Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing Ducati) was eighth.

Superpole 1, featuring names like Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Honda) and first time Donington rider Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Red Devils) was kicked off at 12 noon. Guintoli moved up to ninth after heading into Superpole 2, earning a third row start.
