WSB: Lowes to remain with PATA Yamaha for 2018

Alex Lowes will remain with the PATA Yamaha squad for the 2018 World Superbike season, it has been confirmed.

The former British Champion joined Yamaha upon their return to the Superbike World Championship last year and will go into his third successive season with the Japanese marque in 2018.

Never without pace, Lowes has seen a marked improvement in consistency during the 2017 to be fighting for podiums week-in-week-out despite the domination of his Kawasaki and Ducati rivals.

The British star recently won the prestigious Suzuka Eight Hour endurance race for Yamaha for the second year running, alongside team-mate Michael van der Mark who also remains with the PATA Yamaha team as he enters the second year of his two-year contract.

With rule changes to help level the field thought to be on the horizon as well as increased Yamaha involvement, the duo should be in an improved position ahead of the 2018 season.

“I am really happy to continue with Yamaha and the Pata Yamaha Team into 2018,” he said. “I feel part of the Yamaha family and this year I believe I have made a step up from last season. I want to keep improving and to get to where I, Yamaha and the R1 belong, which is challenging at the front of WorldSBK, so this is my goal and mission. I want to say a massive thank you for the faith Yamaha Motor Europe and the whole team have shown in me, and I look forward to repaying them with results!”
