Shad unveil the new expandable SH38X panniers - their slimmest ever but also their highest capacity

Shad have pulled off an impressive trick by unveiling a new pannier set that is simultaneously both their smallest and biggest.

The SH38X luggage uses Shad’s “compensated tension system”, which they say allows the panniers to expand and contract “telescopically and uniformly”. In the expanded mode, Shad say the pannier will swallow an XL flip front helmet!

Available in two colours, matt black with a carbon or aluminium trim, the panniers use a double channel frame with rubber seals for water resistance.

They can be opened and closed or removed from the motorcycle in seconds, say Shad, using one of the two included safety keys. You also get an extra locking barrel compatible with any SHAD top box from SH48 and larger.

Shad SH38X compatibility

The new panniers are compatible with a huge range of bikes (more than 300, in fact) including Yamaha, Suzuki, Triumph, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, BMW… the list goes on and on. They work with both 3P and 4P pannier rails, so if you have these already for existing Shad luggage, the SH38X should slot straight on (check your bike for compatibility).

Shad have worked hard on getting the design of the new luggage to make them as sleek and fitted-looking as possible. They sit closer to the bike’s frame than any other Shad luggage and give an ‘OE’ look but for less than half the price of genuine luggage options.

Single handed operation

The Shad SH38X panniers couldn’t be easier to attach and remove from the bike – in fact, you can do it one handed! Just hang the case on the frame and lock in place, it’s as simple as that.

The expandable function is equally simple to use, two levers inside the case need flipping and then you pull the case out like an accordion. You can ride to your destination with empty panniers in their slim mode and then pop one out easily to store your helmet while you’re off the bike.
