MCN Fleet: Kawasaki ZX-10R - free parking

1 of 1

You might have seen my ‘Facebook live’ video on our Facebook page recently where I talked about leaving my ZX-10R at Gatwick, while I flew away to top up my tan.

I just rode down with a rucksack, so no check-in luggage to worry about and an open-face lid, which I used on a scooter while I was away. And with the way things are at the moment, an airport is probably the safest place to leave a bike – can you imagine how long a dopey thief would last with an angle grinder trying to cut the lock off, right outside the entrance for Departures?

Best of all it’s free to park a motorcycle and all you need to do to get in and out of the car park is to use the left entrance/exit lanes where the barrier is shorter to accommodate bikes. The bike park is literally opposite the terminal building, so it couldn’t be safer.

Travelling by bike means not getting stuck in any motorway queues, so you’ll never be late and most of all it’s fun.

Now I’m preparing my Kawasaki for my next European blast. I’ve just had the 4000-mile service done and I’m about to fit a set of Pirelli’s new Diablo Rosso III sports tyres.

I’m leaving in a few weeks and away for seven days. I’m riding down the west side of France to the Pyrenees, along to Barcelona, hopping over to Ibiza and back home via the gorges near Millau.

I’ll be doing some more Facebook live updates along the way, so stay tuned… or whatever they call it on the interweb.
