How to stop your padlocks frosting up

1 of 1

Ginnelli: Hi. What is the best way to prevent padlocks from freezing up?

Last year I had matching padlocks on my garage door and back gate.

When I went to open the gate the key just snapped clean in half, I managed to get the broken part out with a pair of tweezers but I had to borrow tools to drill out the locks because all my tools were stuck in my garage.

davemdixon: I use WD40 on the locks and in the kitchen I keep a tin of de-icer. Never fails.

jaffa90: I use spray grease because the grease won¹t freeze and it repels moisture.

Them were the days when padlocks had hinged covers/flaps covering the keyhole.
