Q) Dear Rob,
I want to get my first set of 2-piece leathers for the summer but I don’t want to spend too much money.

What would you recommend for someone on a budget?

I don’t think I’ll do any track days, so I’m just looking for something to wear on the road. Paul, via email

A) Paul, whether your riding on the road or track you need the best protection you can possibly afford, and there are loads of good quality budget brands out there who can supply you with proper protective kit.

Consider the likes of Frank Thomas, Hein Gericke (Pro Sports) and my pick of the bunch, Gear.

The Thruxton two-piece is £169.99 for the jacket and £129.99 for the jean, is a 1.1 – 1.2mm premium grade cowhide, CE armour throughout and safety stitch seams throughout to stop the leather panels exploding on impact.
